Individuals who wish to visit Canada for any purpose such as business or for pleasure may be required to attain a “Temporary Resident Visa,” or “Visitor Visa,” before doing so. While some citizens of certain countries are exempt from this requirement most are not. After obtaining a visa it would be valid for six months after which individuals may apply for an extension from within Canada. Canadian Immigration would assess whether or not to grant the prospective visitor a visa based on valid reasons for coming into Canada, as well as the applicant’s income and the likely hood of returning to his or her native country at the conclusion of their visit.
